Francisco Muñoz Arriagada
Francisco Muñoz Arriagada is a Chilean illustrator and artist, known for his work on the illustration of the book When the Sun is Reborn: Tales from Wallmapu. In this work, compiled by Natanael Pereira Reumay, Muñoz played a crucial role in bringing to life contemporary stories of the Mapuche worldview, gathered from wise people or kimches of the Mapuche nation. His focus was on depicting the protagonists with everyday elements, such as sneakers or glasses, challenging the traditional image of the barefoot Mapuche and avoiding falling into stereotypes or mythifications.
