John D. Teasdale
John D. Teasdale is a prominent British psychologist known for his contribution to the development of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), an innovative approach to preventing relapse in major depression. Teasdale worked closely with Zindel V. Segal and Mark Williams in creating this therapeutic approach, which combines mindfulness techniques with principles of cognitive therapy. Together, they co-authored key works such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression and The Mindful Way through Depression, which have been widely adopted in clinical practice.

Throughout his career, Teasdale worked as a researcher at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit of the Medical Research Council in Cambridge, and at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. His research focused on basic psychological processes and their application in the treatment of emotional disorders. He was a pioneer in cognitive therapy research in the UK and played a key role in applying these approaches to the development and evaluation of MBCT.

In recognition of his work, Teasdale has received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Psychological Association and has been elected a member of the British Academy and the Academy of Medical Sciences. Currently, retired from his research activities, he is dedicated to teaching meditation and mindfulness internationally, exploring the broader implications of these practices on human well-being.
