José Muñoz
(Buenos Aires, 1942) studied at the Panamerican School of Art in Buenos Aires, where he was taught by Alberto Breccia and Hugo Pratt. In the seventies, he settled in Europe and, in Spain, along with Carlos Sampayo, would create one of the most important characters in the history of detective comics: Alack Sinner, awarded in 1978 as Best Foreign Work at the Angoulême Festival. His work, appreciated by a whole generation of illustrators, has been successfully published in Europe and America. In 1983, he was awarded the Yellow Kid Prize at the Lucca Festival, Italy; in 2002, with the Max und Moritz Medal at the Comic Salon in Erlangen, Germany; and in 2007, with the Grand Prix of Angoulême. José Muñoz resides in Paris, Milan, and Buenos Aires.
