Joseph Ratzinger
(Marktl, 1927 - Vatican City, 2022) German theologian and prelate, elected Pope of the Catholic Church on April 19, 2005, as successor to John Paul II. After nearly eight years of pontificate, he resigned in February 2013, a decision with very few precedents in the two thousand years of Church history.
