Juan Rivano
(Santiago de Chile, 1926 - Lund, Sweden, 2015) was a Chilean philosopher and logician. Educated at the University of Chile, he became the Director of the Department of Philosophy at that University and also at the University of Concepción. Before studying pedagogy in philosophy, he studied pedagogy in mathematics, hence his interest in logic. His commitment to freedom was one of his defining traits. He was persecuted, dismissed from the University of Chile, imprisoned, and finally exiled to Sweden in 1977, where he worked as a researcher at the University of Lund. He died in that country in 2015.
