Kip S. Thorne
Kip S. Thorne (born in 1940) is an American theoretical physicist specialized in general relativity and astrophysics. Known for his work on black holes and gravitational waves, he has made significant scientific and educational contributions. He co-authored Gravitation (1973) with Charles Misner and John Wheeler, a fundamental book in the study of relativity.
In the field of scientific dissemination, he wrote Black Holes and Time Warps (1994) and The Science of Interstellar (2014), where he explores the physics behind Christopher Nolan's movie. His work in this area led him to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017 for the detection of gravitational waves with the LIGO experiment.
