Kriti Sharma
Kriti Sharma is an Indian ecologist, philosopher, and academic known for her interdisciplinary work in microbiology, philosophy of biology, and social studies of science. Currently, she is a professor of Critical Race Science and Technology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 2015, she published the book Interdependence: Biology and Beyond, where she introduces the concept of "radical contingency," a perspective that maintains that all beings are interconnected and interdependent, and that nothing exists autonomously
In collaboration with Arturo Escobar and Michal Osterweil, Sharma co-wrote Relationality: An Emerging Politics of Life Beyond the Human (2024), a work that proposes a new way of understanding and living based on the interconnection and interdependence of all forms of life. The book criticizes dominant power structures and advocates for a politics that recognizes and values the intrinsic relationality of existence
