Leinil Francis Yu
Leinil Francis Yu is a renowned Filipino comic book artist, born in 1977. His talent was discovered in the late 90s when he won a contest organized by Wizard magazine, which opened the doors for him to work in the American market. He began his professional career at Wildstorm before making the jump to Marvel Comics, where he established himself as one of the most influential artists of his generation.
Throughout his career, Yu has worked on iconic titles such as Wolverine, X-Men, Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk, New Avengers, and Secret Invasion. His style, characterized by dynamic lines, great expressiveness, and detail, has made him a favorite among both the public and the writers he has collaborated with.
In 2019, he co-created Wave, the first Filipino superheroine in the Marvel universe, within the series War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas. He also contributed to Marvel Saga: The Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman 6 – Forever, where he brought his powerful visual narrative to the development of the closure of one of the most ambitious arcs of the Fantastic Four. Yu continues to be a key figure in the contemporary comic book industry.
