Mark Brazil
Mark Brazil (1955~) was born in Worcestershire, England, and has lived in Stirling, Scotland and Dunedin, New Zealand, but currently resides in Akan-Mashu National Park, in eastern Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan

Mak, who studied at Keele and Stirling universities, has been writing since the late 1970s. From 1982 to 2015, his column Wild Watch was published in The Japan Times newspaper and is the world's oldest natural history column written by a single author

Among Mark's books are: A Birdwatcher's Guide to Japan, Birds of Japan, Wild Asia, The Whooper Swan, and Helm Field Guides Birds of East Asia, The Nature of Japan, and Helm Field Guides Birds of Japan. His upcoming books are: Wild Hokkaido: A guide to the national parks and other wild places of eastern Hokkaido and Japan: The Natural History of an Asian Archipelago.
