Oliver Wieviorka
Olivier Wieviorka, born in 1960, is a French historian specializing in World War II and the French Resistance. He is a professor at the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay and has collaborated with various academic institutions. Coming from a family of intellectuals, he is the brother of historian Annette Wieviorka and sociologist Michel Wieviorka.
Among his most notable works are "History of the Normandy Landing: from the origins to the liberation of Paris" (2007), "History of the Resistance: 1940-1945" (2013) and "Total History of World War II" (2023). These works, belonging to the genre of military and political history, have been fundamental to the study of World War II. Wieviorka has received accolades such as the François-Joseph Audiffred Prize from the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in 2013 and the Eugène-Colas Prize from the French Academy in 2014 for his contribution to historiography.
