Peter F. Klarén
Peter F. Klarén is an American historian specialized in the sociopolitical history of Latin America, with an emphasis on Peru and the Andean region. Emeritus professor at George Washington University, he has taught at institutions such as Dartmouth College and Georgetown University. In 2017, he was awarded the Order of the Sun of Peru, the highest distinction granted by the Peruvian government, in recognition of his academic contributions to the country's history and politics.

Among his most notable works are Nation and Society in the History of Peru (2004), a synthesis of ten thousand years of Peruvian history, and Formation of the Sugar Haciendas and Origins of the APRA (1970), a study on the economic and political evolution in the northern Peruvian coast. He has also co-edited Promise of Development: Theories of Change in Latin America (1986), which analyzes development theories in the region. His work falls within the genre of historical-academic essay, characterized by a critical approach and rigorous documentary research.
