Peter Zumthor
Peter Zumthor, born on April 26, 1943 in Basel, Switzerland, is an architect known for his minimalist approach and meticulous attention to materials and light. Before turning to architecture, he trained as a cabinetmaker, which influenced his appreciation for craftsmanship and details. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel and at the Pratt Institute in New York. In 1979, he established his own studio in Haldenstein, Switzerland.

Among his most notable works are the Therme Vals (1996) in Switzerland and the Kunsthaus Bregenz (1997) in Austria. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Pritzker Prize in 2009 and the RIBA Gold Medal in 2013. In addition to his professional practice, Zumthor has been a professor at the Accademia di Architettura dell'Università della Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio and has taught at various universities worldwide.
