The increased interest in the backwater mining colony has led to two Bolters (Martian Police) coming to Miranda in their search for Dirk. One is the real criminal behind the nano-plague and the other is his mother.

While hiding from the Bolters, Dirk makes a discovery about the ring entrance that could spell disaster for the whole of Miranda. But how can he warn everyone about the danger without being caught?
