Airman
Tihomir Mijatovich (Author) · Page and Pixel · Hardcover
When Jeff Wilson, an American bomber pilot is shot down into Yugoslavia, he falls in love with a woman soldier, Eva, fighting both the Germans and communists in a civil war. Political turmoil delays the evacuation of the airmen that forces Wilson to leave Eva behind. He returns to Yugoslavia after the war to find her when he is pursued by police and Interpol who wrongly believe he tried assassinating the Yugoslav President. Meanwhile Eva is also on the move leaving Yugoslavia when she becomes the surrogate mother for orphaned twin girls. After her heroic actions at a bridge, she and the girls find themselves at a refugee camp when Wilson is captured by Interpol. After the girls are taken away by their cousin, an American diplomat is sent to set him free after it is learned he has been mistakenly imprisoned. Eva, working as a cleaning lady, sees Wilson's picture in the newspaper and goes to Frankfurt Germany to see if it's really him. She meets up with Jim Jankowski, the assistant sent to free Wilson and learns that he is being sent back to Yugoslavia by two men that are actually sent to kill Wilson and his handler Ivan. Jankowski and Eva arrive at the jail when Wilson and Ivan are driven way. A chase ensues ending in Wilson and Eva back together.
