A. Robert A. Neimeyer is a distinguished American psychologist, known for his innovative approach to the study of grief and loss. He is a professor emeritus at the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis and director of the Portland Institute for Loss and Transition. Additionally, he maintains a private practice in Memphis, Tennessee. He has published more than 30 books and over 500 articles and book chapters, establishing himself as a leading figure in the psychology of grief and constructivist psychotherapy.

His most influential work is Learning from Loss, where he proposes a view of grief as an active process of meaning reconstruction, challenging traditional perspectives. This approach has been widely adopted in professional training and clinical practice. Neimeyer has also edited specialized journals such as Death Studies and Journal of Constructivist Psychology, and has been president of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC).

His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Phoenix Award from the MISS Foundation and the Clinical Practice Award from the ADEC, highlighting his significant contribution to the field of grief study and treatment.
