La specie Myrciaria floribunda (West ex Willdenow) O. Berg, Myrtaceae, popolarmente nota come cambuí, ha una distribuzione naturale nelle aree di riposo sabbioso della costa meridionale di Alagoas, principalmente nei comuni di Piaçabuçu e Penedo. È un albero da frutto autoctono con un potenziale valore economico e i suoi frutti sono molto apprezzati sia freschi che lavorati. La pianta è utilizzata come pianta medicinale e ornamentale e nei progetti di rimboschimento urbano. Tuttavia, a causa dell'occupazione urbana e agricola disordinata, la specie rischia notevolmente di estinguersi in Alagoas, rendendo necessari studi volti a mantenere la sua diversità genetica nello Stato.
