Seit Beginn seiner literarischen Tätigkeit stellt sich Michael Groi meier in seinen Texten immer wieder Charons Blick, der Beschäftigung mit dem eigenen Tod. Mit diesem Band legt er nun die Summe dieser lebenslangen Auseinandersetzung vor, eine Auswahl an Gedichten aus vierzig Jahren dichterischen Schaffens. Das Werden und Vergehen der Natur dient Groi meier als Spiegelbild menschlicher Vergänglichkeit. Eindringlich beschreibt er das Sterben als Einswerden mit der Natur, als Rückkehr und Eingebundensein in ihren Kreislauf. Bei aller Phantasie um das Sterben ist gleichwohl die Lust am Leben zu verspüren. Groi meiers Gedichte sind sinnlich-elegisch und sie sind Naturmagie.
