Recibió en Argentina, entre otros, los siguientes premios: Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Provincia de Salta, III Premio Nacional de Poesía, Gran Premio Internacional Jorge Luis Borges, Municipal de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y Fundación Argentina para la Poesía. En España, los premios: Ignacio Aldecoa de relatos y Jaime Gil de Biedma de poesía. Es miembro de número de la Academia Argentina de Letras.
