Synopsis "Conhecimento, atitude e percepção da hepatite B (in Portuguese)"

A hepatite B é um grave problema de saúde pública e uma doença infecciosa com patologia grave no fígado causada pelo vírus da hepatite B (VHB). O VHB pode causar infecção aguda ou crónica. Na região do Sudeste Asiático (SEAR), mais de um terço da população foi infetada pelo VHB e 80 mil milhões (cerca de 6% da população total) são portadores ao longo da vida. Estima-se que cerca de 200 000 mortes por ano estejam associadas à hepatite B nesta região. No Nepal, há baixa endemicidade da hepatite B, ou seja, menos de 2% de prevalência de infecção crónica pelo VHB. Como os adolescentes são mais vulneráveis à infecção pela hepatite B devido ao abuso de drogas injetáveis, práticas sexuais inseguras e tatuagens, foi realizado um estudo qualitativo sobre o conhecimento, a atitude e a percepção da hepatite B entre estudantes paramédicos e não paramédicos no distrito de Kanchanpur, no Nepal.
