El hecho de que todas las teorías morales contemporáneas continúen dialogando aun hoy con las premisas y planteamientos formulados por Immanuel Kant 1724-1804 permite hablar, en la historia de la ética, de un antes y un después del filósofo de Konigsberg, cesura que viene marcada por el carácter de punto de inflexión que, para la filosofía moral, representa su formalismo ético. En este sentido, cabe calificar la crítica de la razón práctica 1788 uno de los textos kantianos capitales como una verdadera biblia por lo que atañe al pensamiento moral de la modernidad. La presente edición, a cargo de Roberto R. Aramayo, une al depurado rigor de la traducción y las notas unos útiles índices que contribuyen al manejo y estudio de la obra, así como una cronología que la sitúa en su adecuado contexto.

Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) was a German philosopher and one of the most influential figures in modern philosophy. His thinking laid the foundations of transcendental idealism, focused on the relationship between experience and reason. Among his most important works is Critique of Pure Reason (1781), where he analyzes the limits of human knowledge. He also wrote Critique of Practical Reason (1788), focused on morality, and Critique of Judgment (1790), which addresses aesthetics and teleology.

Additionally, in Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals (1785), he presented his famous theory of the categorical imperative, the cornerstone of his ethics. His ideas on enlightenment, morality, and epistemology continue to influence philosophy and social sciences.
