Die Anthologie zeichnet die Entstehung des Werkbundes in den bohmischen Landern nach. Dabei gewinnt ein Interessenverband aus Vertretern von Kunst, Kultur, Wirtschaft, Industrie und Politik an Konturen, der gemass der nationalen Diversitat durch zwei selbststandige Werkbundvereine fortgefuhrt wurde: Der Tschechoslowakische Werkbund und der Werkbund der Deutschen in der Tschechoslowakei werden erstmals aus vergleichen- der Perspektive anhand programmatischer Beitrage als Akteure im tschechoslowakischen Kulturbetrieb vorgestellt. Die Texte lassen das Puzzle einer gesellschaftspolitischen Ausdifferenzierung innerhalb des neuen Staates erkennen, dessen Facetten mit Abbildungen von Gebrauchsdingen aus dem Publikations- und Ausstellungskontext beider Werkbundvereine - den Luxusprodukten wie den einfacheren Alltagsartikeln - illustriert werden.
