Synopsis "Don’t Answer After Midnight"

Twenty-year-old Evan is new to Bellweather and still getting used to his job at Miller’s Quick Stop when he begins working the overnight shift alone. Before leaving him for his first night, his boss gives him one strange warning: Don’t answer the old telephone after midnight. Evan soon discovers why. The callers are terrified. A stranded woman believes someone is following her. A teenager desperately tries to save his younger brother from a burning house. A frightened young girl hides in her bedroom while someone waits outside her door. Evan wants to help them, but every attempt leads him to the same impossible discovery. Every caller died years ago. As the calls continue, the danger begins moving beyond the telephone. Voices imitate people Evan knows. Figures appear outside the store. Security cameras capture things that shouldn’t exist. Then Evan learns that another overnight employee received the same calls before disappearing without a trace in 1999. Whatever is behind the calls is getting stronger. And now it knows Evan’s name. Some warnings are meant to be followed. Some calls should never be answered. Especially after midnight.
