In recent times, writers have paid little or no attention to the Medieval life, believes, rituals, struggles and concern of the African tribes. - And gradually the true tales of the people have been ignored and allowed to gather dust and decay away, making us a people with out a concise knowledge of our past. - Jacob Unekwu in this new book "EBULÉJONU" attempted to return to the past to sort for untold stories, undiscussed issues and struggles that actually categorise the igala legend EBULÉJONU. - The Legend EBULÉJONU has been ignored for centuries, with virtually nothing documented about her, but this passionate student of history, rituals and medieval struggle has been able to assemble the little tales about this forgotten legend to create a concise narration about her antecedents and the mystery surrounding her person and her enshadowed reign. - Jacob Unekwu equally unveil the poetic nature of the igala ritual, this could be seen in the course of EBULÉJONU's trance and metamorphosis. - The work also reflected the igala believe in the existence of the three worlds as propounded by Wole Soyinka, this worlds includes the world of the unborn, the living and the dead. - These worlds were all addressed by EBULÉJONU in the course of her trance. - Also as a good poet, the playwright equally employed the versing and stanza style of dialogues, and this made the play an embodiment of drama and poetry. - The Book like the Author noted in a serious conversation with me, has indeed raised alot of questions that demands an urgent and serious discuss, especially as regards to the igala historical documentations, narrations and Ancestralism. - Ayomikun Bamidele.
