Este libro reune una seleccion de los trabajos presentados en tres seminarios realizados en Santiago y Roma por academicos vinculados con la Universitadeglistudidi Roma Tre, con la Universidad de Chile y con la Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, entre los años 2011 y 2013. Los articulos son el resultado de la discusion comun y de la busqueda de puntos de encuentro en torno a los cambios de sensibilidad religiosa catolica desde la Antiguedad tardia y el medioevo hasta llegar al ensanchamiento espacial del universo europeo con la incorporacion de America y el replanteamiento de las actividades misionales.

Claudio Rolle (Santiago, 1960) is a Chilean historian, with a PhD from the University degli Studi di Pisa, and a full professor at the Institute of History of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Specialized in European history and popular music, he has been the director of the UC History Institute and has led high-impact interdisciplinary research.

Among his most notable works are Social History of Popular Music in Chile, 1890–1950 (2005, co-authored with Juan Pablo González), awarded the Casa de las Américas Musicology Prize in 2003; 1973. Everyday Life in a Crucial Year (2003); History of the 20th Century in Chile (2001); From Utopia to Outbreak (2021, co-editor); and Homo Dolens. Cartographies of Pain: Meanings, Experiences, Records (2018, co-editor). His approach combines academic rigor with cultural sensitivity, addressing social phenomena from diverse historical and cultural perspectives.
