Los seis ensayos que componen este libro fueron publicados inicialmente en el año 2007, no obstante, hoy siguen plenamente vigentes. En ellos se abordan temas centrales en una actualidad, muchas veces, desconcertante. El dolor cultural y sufrimiento se nos hace presente tomando forma en las desigualdades, las ansias de poder y el apego a los fundamentalismos. Sin embargo, se vislumbra en el horizonte una mayor conciencia de un vivir y convivir en un relacionarse desde la simpleza de lo natural, cuidándonos los unos a los otros, distinguiendo la importancia de la austeridad como un valor deseable. Hoy somos conscientes de lo que queremos y no queremos vivir en esta cultura. No deseamos seguir actuando como si creyésemos que los conflictos se resuelven con guerras, como si el cambio climático fuese producto de una catástrofe natural y no del modo de vivir que producimos con el crecimiento exponencial de la población, o haciendo caso omiso a la generación de adicciones al éxito y al dinero.

Co-founder, along with Humberto Maturana, of Matríztica (2000) in Santiago, Chile, as a school of thought from the south of the world, reflecting on the unity of the living and the human, which they call Cultural Biology. Ximena serves as a guide-teacher for the various courses they conduct and, at the same time, as a researcher in Cultural Biology, focusing her reflective attention on the processes of cultural transformation in organizations. Ximena has studies in Guidance in Human and Family Relations with a mention in Organizational Development. In her professional history, she has collaborated in the field of human relations with both public and private organizations in Chile and abroad. She is also the creator of the art and science of Liberating Conversation as a reflective praxis that frees from cultural pain through the understanding and comprehension of its origin and conservation in human coexistence, as well as the actions that make possible the recovery and conservation of individual and collective well-being.
