Diese Arbeit fühlt sich der von L. Wittgenstein angedeuteten und von R. Keller entwickelten Gebrauchstheorie der Sprache verbunden. Kellers instrumentalistische Bedeutungstheorie geht davon aus, dass Zeichen allein aufgrund ihrer Gebrauchskonventionen zu Kommunikationszwecken verwendet werden. Im Rahmen dieser Theorie wird hier H. P. Grice's Konzeption der konventionellen Implikaturen theoretisch ausgearbeitet und zur Explikation lexikalischer und grammatischer Bedeutungen angewendet, die sich den Analysemethoden herkömmlicher Semantik entziehen.
