Synopsis "Leben in Weimar (in German)"

Der Stuttgarter Verleger Cotta schickt 1807 ein junges Paar nach Weimar, um festzustellen, ob Goethe noch "schaffensmächtig" ist. In Meiningen steigt ein Mönch in ihren Landauer, der in Weimar in ihrem Hotel vergiftet aufgefunden wird. Schnell geraten beide in Verdacht. Aber Goethe hilft ihnen heraus. Die weitere Erzählung wird zu einer Recherche über Goethe und den toten Mönch in Weimar, Jena und in den böhmischen Bädern. Schlie lich finden die beiden Protagonisten die Lösung. Aber es ist eine vorläufige Lösung. Hat der Vatikan ein Komplott gegen Goethes geschmiedet, weil zwei Prälaten Goethes Konkurrenten um Faustina waren? Jedenfalls werden die Wahlverwandtschaften von Goethe beendet. Der Auftrag des jungen Paars ist zu Ende, aber beide bleiben noch einige Zeit in Böhmen.
