George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) was an influential Irish playwright, critic, and essayist, known for his sharp satire and witty style. He primarily wrote plays, excelling in social drama and comedies with critical content. His most famous work, Pygmalion (1913), inspired the renowned musical adaptation My Fair Lady. He also wrote Saint Joan (1923), Man and Superman (1903), and Widowers' Houses (1892), among many others.

Shaw received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925 for his contribution to literature, especially for his influence on modern theater.
