Synopsis "Meghdoot (in Hindi)"

कालिदास का 'मेघदूत' यद्यपि छोटा-सा काव्य-ग्रंथ है, किन्तु इसके माध्यम से प्रेमी के विरह का जो वर्णन उन्होंने किया है उसका उदाहरण अन्यत्र मिलना असंभव है। न केवल संस्कृत में अपितु कालान्तर में उर्दू कवियों ने भी इस पर अपनी लेखनी चलायी है। किसी उर्दू कवि ने कहा है -तौबा की थी, मैं न पियूँगा कभी शराब।बादल का रंग देख नीयत बदल गयी।।कालिदास ने जब आषाढ़ के प्रथम दिन आकाश पर मेघ उमड़ते देखे तो उनकी कल्पना ने उड़ान भरकर उनसे यक्ष और मेघ के माध्यम से विरहव्यथा का वर्णन करने के लिए 'मेघदूत' की रचना करवा डाली और कालिदास की यह कल्पना उनकी अनन्य कृति बन गयी।
