John Broome (1913–1999) fue un influyente guionista estadounidense de cómics, especialmente reconocido por su trabajo para DC Comics durante la Edad de Plata. Nacido en Brooklyn, inició su carrera escribiendo relatos de ciencia ficción y misterio, pero a mediados de los años cuarenta comenzó a colaborar con editoriales de cómics. Su contribución más duradera llegó en los años cincuenta y sesenta, cuando se convirtió en una de las plumas centrales del resurgimiento de los superhéroes en DC.

Broome fue responsable de guiones fundamentales para The Flash y Green Lantern, donde ayudó a redefinir ambos personajes para una nueva generación. Junto al editor Julius Schwartz y a dibujantes como Carmine Infantino y Gil Kane, co-creó o modernizó figuras icónicas como Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, y numerosos villanos y conceptos que todavía estructuran el universo DC. Su estilo se caracterizaba por tramas ingeniosas, giros de ciencia ficción y un enfoque creativo que expandió las posibilidades narrativas del género.
