Hace un par de años, más de una década después de que HBO dejará de transmitir Six Feet Under, encontré en la biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango un tomo medio descuadernado de El entrenador: la vida vista desde el oficio fúnebre, del poeta, enterrador y ensayista norteamericano, Thomas Lynch. Ese día había ido a la biblioteca buscando El elogio de la sombra, de Junichiro Tanizaki, para mi clase de lectura japonesa. No entendí en ese momento por qué el algoritmo me había arrojado el título de ese desconocido, pero yo, que le profeso una fe ciega e infantil a los libros, simplemente ordene ambos y me los lleve a casa, confiada en que la diosa incierta de la literatura, tuviera reservada para mis estudiantes y para mí, un camino muy distinto al que yo había diseñado en el programa.
