Terror Beneath the Bayou is an extraterrestrial-horror novel about an escalating emergency in a small town that brings together local law enforcement, scientists, medical personnel, local officials, and the town's mayor, a man out to settle a vendetta. Set in Union Town, in south-central Louisiana, the story begins with a body found in a disturbing condition within an abandoned factory. Unexplained disappearances and unusual sinkholes lead Chief Deputy Justin Hebert and a widening group of investigators to a subterranean colony of foot-long, highly organized insect-like creatures. The body count rises. The abandoned factory is thought to be the creatures' nest but a network of tunnels discovered under the town speaks of a problem far more immense. An autopsy of a dead creature reveals internal organs more human than insect and a diet of rotting biomass and sulfur. A local garbage dump yields evidence indicating these creatures have an extraterrestrial origin and have been on Earth for millions of years. A mid-summer storm supercharged with lightning slams into the small town turning organized plans into chaos. The deluge sweeps Chief Deputy Hebert and entomologist, Dr. Jennifer Reynolds, underground and into the heart of the creatures' nest. Topside, the team scrambles to save the pair from certain death while Bill Brandon, Union Town's mayor, sets into play a scheme to ensure the parish sheriff, Arthur Maxwell, is one of the fallen. In an action-packed climax underground, Chief Deputy Hebert and Dr. Reynolds fend-off the colony's egg-laying queen and thousands of her minions. In a desperate attempt at rescue, the team above ground make a desperate attempt at rescue but are driven back by the onslaught. Can the aliens be exterminated without jeopardizing the lives of the chief deputy and entomologist? Will Mayor Brandon succeed in his treachery?
