Algernon Blackwood was a short story writer and novelist, most noted for his stories "The Willows" and "The Wendigo". Here, presented for your enjoyment, is one of his great novels, "The Centaur". O'Malley is travelling on a cruise through the Greek islands when he meets two mysterious men, a father and a son. O'Malley finds these handsome men strangely fascinating and is happy to discover the will all be sharing a cabin aboard the ship. While walking on the shore tricks of light seem to join the pair into a single being; at times a third much larger being seems to join them. Is O'Malley hallucinating, going mad, or is a dark and ancient force at work. This is a Print-On-Demand reprint of the original book. (United Kingdom, 1869 - 1951). Writer of fantastic tales, journalist, and radio broadcaster. He narrated his own writings on radio and television and wrote an autobiography of his early years. His work, The Willows, is considered one of the best horror stories in history. He was a major influence on H.P. Lovecraft, who described him as "the unquestionable and absolute master of spectral atmosphere".
