Ed Brisson nació en Oshawa (Ontario, Canadá) y trabajó inicialmente como dibujante, rotulista y editor independiente antes de consolidarse como guionista. En 2005 fundó la editorial New Reliable Press, con la que publicó antologías como You Ain’t No Dancer y otros títulos de autoría propia. Posteriormente, centró su actividad en la escritura y desarrolló obras de corte criminal y fantástico como Murder Book y Comeback, esta última editada por Image en 2012, que le abrió las puertas del mercado estadounidense.

A partir de entonces colaboró con diversas editoriales, entre ellas Image, donde creó series como Sheltered, The Field, The Mantle y The Violent, y trabajó también para Boom!, Dark Horse y AfterShock en títulos como Beyond the Breach y Sins of the Salton Sea. En Marvel escribió sagas de personajes consolidados como Iron Fist, Old Man Logan, Ghost Rider y diferentes colecciones de X-Men, mientras que en DC participó en series como Batman Incorporated y Deathstroke Inc.. Su trayectoria estuvo marcada por un interés constante por el thriller, el crimen y la ciencia ficción, combinado con incursiones en franquicias de superhéroes.
