The rationale of this paper is to present a descriptive study based on academic and official evidence about the deficiencies or shortcomings of the professional pharmacy service in Spain, in comparison to the professional pharmacy services provided in other European countries, and to establish recommendations at national level for the incorporation of professional pharmacy services.
