Henry Hazlitt fue un economista, periodista y filósofo liberal nacido el 28 de noviembre de 1894 en Filadelfia, Estados Unidos, y fallecido el 9 de julio de 1993 en Nueva York. Es reconocido como uno de los principales defensores del libre mercado y de las ideas de la Escuela Austriaca de economía durante el siglo XX. Aunque no tuvo formación universitaria completa, desarrolló una sólida carrera intelectual gracias a su estudio autodidacta y su experiencia en el periodismo económico.

Hazlitt trabajó como editor y columnista en importantes medios como The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times y Newsweek, donde explicó temas económicos de manera clara para el público general. Su obra más famosa es Economics in One Lesson, publicada en 1946, en la que argumenta que las políticas económicas deben analizarse considerando sus efectos a largo plazo sobre toda la sociedad y no solo sobre grupos específicos.
