Synopsis "Together With Everything"

Kids are strange and remarkable. They are curious animals, learning and dealing with the structures of life. A parent has to be teacher, caregiver, disciplinarian, and guide-they prepare their child for a place in this world, even as they search for their own. In Janelle Victoria's sixth book, poems of memory encounter the chaotic realities of childhood-together with the great devotion and frustration of parent-child relationships. These poems interrogate the myth of the nuclear family and the pressures of adolescent girlhood. A grief story centering miscarriage is here too, and a romance story of new love. Readers will connect with this collection's beautiful lyric language, its sense of humor and adventure, and its strength in vulnerability. Togther With Everything wraps its lines around a full and embodied soul.
