Leslie Patricelli is an American author and illustrator known for her children's books, especially her popular board books for babies featuring a bald and expressive baby. She was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Issaquah, near Pine Lake. She studied Communications at the University of Washington and later took classes at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle

Before dedicating herself to children's literature, Patricelli worked as a copywriter and animator. For seven years, she was a contractor at Microsoft, where she created and animated characters like Scuzz the Rat for Microsoft Bob, Power Pup for Office '97, and Rover the Dog for Windows XP

Her best-known book series includes titles such as Potty, Toot, Yummy Yucky, Big Little, Hair, and Nighty-Night. Additionally, she is the author of The Rizzlerunk Club: Best Buds Under Frogs, a novel for middle-grade children

Patricelli lives in Hailey, Idaho, with her husband Jason Vontver, a professional drummer, and their three adult children. Her son Beck, who was the original inspiration for her baby character, lives in Brooklyn, New York, where he studies jazz and creates art
