Richard K. Morgan is a British writer born in London in 1965, known mainly for his work within the cyberpunk science fiction genre. He graduated in Modern Languages from Queens’ College, Cambridge, and worked as an English teacher before dedicating himself fully to writing. His literary debut came in 2002 with Altered Carbon, a novel that merges elements of noir with a dystopian and technological future. This book, which introduced the character Takeshi Kovacs, was an immediate success and won the Philip K. Dick Award. The work was adapted by Netflix into a series of the same name in 2018.

Morgan continued the saga with Broken Angels (2003) and Woken Furies (2005). He has also ventured into fantasy with the trilogy starring Ringil Eskiath, whose first book, The Steel Remains, was published in 2008. Known for his raw style, his cynical protagonists, and his reflections on identity, power, and technology, Morgan has maintained a distinctive voice in contemporary science fiction. His work combines intense action with deep social critique, exploring how technology can affect the human condition.
