Spanish author of young adult literature, specialized in fantasy themes. She studied Hispanic Philology at the University of Valencia and in 1999 won the El Barco de Vapor award with Finis Mundi, a novel set in the Middle Ages. Three years later, she won the same award again with La leyenda del Rey Errante. Her published work currently includes twenty-seven young adult novels and some children's stories, with more than a million copies sold just in Spain and translations into sixteen languages, including English, French, German, and Japanese. Her most popular works among young readers are Crónicas de la Torre, Dos velas para el diablo, Donde los árboles cantan, Alas de fuego, El Libro de los Portales, and especially, the trilogies Memorias de Idhún and Guardianes de la Ciudadela. In 2011, she received the Premio Cervantes Chico for her entire body of work, and in 2012, she was awarded the National Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature for her novel Donde los árboles cantan. She has just published the novel El ciclo del Eterno Emperador.
