Fearing he has lost the sense he calls 'the knowing' he embarks on a journey to discover the secrets of Burnley Cross and comes face to face with the horrors of its past. It is then he discovers there are others, who share his sense of knowing and with their help, the ghost that haunts the old mansion is finally laid to rest.
