Synopsis "The West Wing "

Edward Gorey's The West Wing is an invitation to the imagination. On each page, a room beckons, inviting the reader to wonder why three shoes lie here abandoned, what is retreating in that mirror's reflection, or why there is an imprint of a body on the wallpaper, faded and floating four feet above the floor. A wordless mystery, it is one of Gorey's finest works.

Edward Gorey (1925-2000) was an American author, illustrator, and artist known for his distinctive, dark, and macabre humor style. Throughout his career, Gorey wrote and illustrated over 100 books, many of which have left an indelible mark on literature and visual arts. His work spans a wide range of genres, from children's literature to horror and mystery, always with a unique approach that mixed the gothic and the absurd.

Among his most famous works are The Gashlycrumb Tinies (1963), The Doubtful Guest (1957), and The Unstrung Harp (1953). His illustration style is instantly recognizable by its fine and detailed lines, often in shades of white, black, and gray. Although he did not receive major awards, his influence on art and literature is widely recognized.
