Synopsis "A lomo de mula (in Spanish)"

In May of 1964, the military operation to recover the "independent republic of Marquetalia" began, which would lead to the long, bloody war between the FARC and the Colombian government, the political and social consequences of which are still being felt today. On the 50th anniversary of the founding of the longest-running active guerrilla group, writer and sociologist Alfredo Molano reconstructs the origins of the FARC using history and journalism. Initially published in El Espectador, these twelve texts arise from different journeys into the most remote corners of Colombia, where the true history of this guerrilla group’s emergence lies, and from several interviews the author conducted with the founders of the armed group. Just after the signing of the peace accord in Colombia, On the Mule’s Back is a rigorous, necessary look into the topic, by the pen of one of the most knowledgeable authorities on the Colombian conflict.
